We are asked this question frequently because we make Guest Book Jigsaw Puzzles for Weddings and a few of the couples want their Monograms on the puzzle instead of pictures. This information helps!

The Missing Piece Puzzle CompanyThe Missing Piece Puzzle Companyhttp://www.themissingpiecepuzzlecompany.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5588048192582431507.post-41304382827317488142011-05-27T15:51:23.527-04:002011-05-27T15:51:23.527-04:00Great question Anonymous! We'll use the example "Elizabeth Anne Meredith Smith."

(1) You could monogram her entire name in order with all capital letters: EAMS

(2) You could find out which middle name she favors and drop one (only if you are close with her and feel comforatable asking): eSa or eSm

If the middle name is hyphenated, you could go with: EA-MS though it's not nearly as pretty looking once on a monogrammed item.

My favorite would be this one however, you'd have to find someplace that can customize. This can't be done by say Red Envelope or Pottery Barn. It's hard to describe but in small letters on top of each other:

E
A
M S

(but imagine the "S" as big and centered on the smaller middle letters. Make sense?

I hope this helps and thanks for asking!Southern Living: Preppy Stylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15980788934203692603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5588048192582431507.post-39703354304033862162011-05-27T13:56:06.226-04:002011-05-27T13:56:06.226-04:00the friend I am getting something monogrammed for ...the friend I am getting something monogrammed for is single and has two middle names. However, if writing "...at the Handsomes' Home" in a sentance, then the apostrophe would be after.

I've looked this up and asked a couple of English teachers as well and one said one thing and the other said another. I looked online as well and found the same information.

That being said, here's what I'm thinking....I'm not going to be a name plaque as a hostess gift anytime soon! That would be for only one Handsome and since there are now two Handsomes, it should read "The Handsomes' Home".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5588048192582431507.post-67058764001814347752011-05-23T09:01:06.829-04:002011-05-23T09:01:06.829-04:00Thanks for the run-down. With the reason being that, the maiden name became the middle initial... because women were not given middle names traditionally. What do you think about this?
