Lallie Update

Happy Monday y'all!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend.  It was brutally hot here in South Florida.  We spent most of the time in the pool.  And while Lallie was napping, we would lay out on rafts, which after 30 mintues of not physically being in the water, it was just too hot to even lay out!  I think we actually set a record hight on Saturday.

Well, Lallie is up to new things, as usual.

1) She loves to terrorize our poor, aging dog.  And he just sits there and takes it.  She throws the beach ball at him over and over again.  If he's in her way, she yells "Excuse Me dog" multiple times at the top of her lungs (hey, at least she's a polite demander!)

2)  Lallie is a little mischevious thing.  This weekend, we were with some friends who have a 2.5 year old and one year old, both boys.  Lallie would walk up to one and if they were doing something she didn't like, she would subtly pinch or hit them (so adults supposedly couldn't see).  When the boys responded with a "whack" of a hit, Lallie cried as loud as she possible yelling, "he hit me!"  Need to work on this one!

3)  Lallie has a very keen sense of humor.  She loves jokes (and at her young age, seems to understand them).  She loves to do silly things and then look at me and say "I'm just kidding mommy."  For example, she knows she's not supposed to touch certain things in the house, so she'll walk up to them, gets ready to touch, give me the mischevious eye and when I say "Don't you dare" she'll look at me and say "what?  I'm not touching it, I'm just pointing at it."  Then she'll touch it and run away yelling "I'm just joking!"

4)  She likes to play letter games with Daddy.  Sort of.  Let me explain.  We have those foam letters and numbers in the bathtub.  Husband will slap one on the side of the bathtub and ask what letter it is.  Lallie pretty much only knows the letter "A" but she does know that they are letters in general.  So to be silly, she'll respond by saying elephant, monkey, apple or numbers.  Of course, she's laughing like crazy as she responds making it a big game.

5)  She despises getting her clothes or hair dirty.  This morning, she spilled a little cheerios milk on her PJ shirt and her hair.  She stuck her hands out, pushed her hair back and said "mommy, I got cherrios on me, get it off, get it off."

6)  Lallie has become quite the little swimmer and she wants to be in the water 24/7.  We can't even spell the words "swimming" or "pool" anymore as she automatically knows what they mean and then there is no turning back.  One thing is for sure, we'd better have all of her swimsuits clean because if the one she wants to wear is dirty, forget it....fit haven will be set off!

7)  She loves jewelry.  I had to put her very own box of costume jewelry in my closet (so she would think it's mine) that she can play with when I'm getting dressed.  We went to Walmart yesterday afternoon to go food shopping.  Lallie insisted on wearing one of my pearl (fake) bracelets and some gold bangles.  We ran into a friend in the jewlery section and we talked for 15 minutes or so.  Lallie proceeded to try on every necklace and every bracelet.  But it was not big deal.  She only tried one on at a time and before moving on, she would place it back on the rack as if it had never been touched and then go on to the next bracelet.

8) Lallie is graduating from toddler school this week.  There is a big ceremony and reception on Thursday night and it's bittersweet.  We are SO proud of Lallie but this is like the first right of passage into Lallie growing up, and no longer being a baby.  Kind of makes me want to pull out her baby book :(
That's all I have for now.  I didn't get any pictures from the weekend, so I'll leave you with a baby picture.

Have a happy Monday!!

Celebration Time!

We had such a fun night last night.  Our friend, Niki, had recently passed the bar (which was a feat considering she has two kids under 2 1/2 years) and received her first job.  So they invited us out to Benihana at the last minute to celebrate!

The kids started out with Shirley Temples.

And then tried on their nifty chef hats!
(the last one was taken at the perfect second as he would not leave his hat on!)

Lallie was absolutely stunned during the habachi portion or our meal.  The check made a volcano out of onions and the pushed it around with a piece of zuchinni like a choo-choo train.  He then threw his utensils, made music and flipped food up in the air.  Since cooking is a rare thing in our house, Lallie was looking a little like: "What the heck is this he is doing with the food and why does he think it's funny?"  (sorry for the bad resolution, I had to make some adjustments because it was dark).

Lallie ate her first piece of sushi (well, two bites, but hey, not bad!)

After dinner, we went down on the beach for some sunset playtime.

The happy couple and newly employed attorney!!! Woot Woot!!

Of course, it's pink and green Thursday, so aren't Husband and I adorable in our pink and green???  We didn't plan that either!

Happy Thursday Y'all

Jewlery Obsession

As you all well know by now, I have somewhat developed a jewelry obsession over the last few months.  I used to never wear jewelry, at all.  Then, I started wearing jewelry that only meant something to me (i.e. gift, heritage, wedding ring, pearls).

Then a few months ago, I broke out.  I went to Target and bought a wooden bead necklace and a silver bead necklace that were (are you ready for this?)  ONE whole inch thick.  It was was shocking.  I had never worn chuncky jewelry and thought I never would.

Well, then along came my blog friends, who pulled me into looking at other designers (i.e. those I cannot afford) but discovered, for not so huge a price, I can have some really great jewelery.

Enter Hilary, my good friend from Junior League and Stella and Dot stylist.  She had just started her business and I agreed to host a party.  It was a successful party.  Over $1,000.00 in sales!!  What did that mean for me?  I got all of this for $150.00 (not including tax and shipping).  Thank you honey - buns for letting me buy some really pretty things! :-)

Now I need a jewelry stand as my teeny little box isn't going to hold all this!

(All jewelry pictures are from www.stelladot.com)
Okay - part of why I love Stella and Dot, is the versatility.  I can wear the bee on the gold or the flower on the coral.  I can wrap the coral around three times or just twice.  The gold one has an additional link that doubles as a bracelet in which I can wear.....

(above are the Boca Bee and La Coco necklaces)

.....these pretty charms.  I love them, so springy and Lilly-esque, don't you think?
(The Bloom Flower Charms)

I love the chuncky dark jewelry.  I have this in mind to spice up a white button down with jeans or for more professional attire (black - gag me, but it is professional :-)

The Collette, Jenna and the Rachel (which can be worn long as well, rather than doubled).

The Gabrielle is one of my favorites.  I really hope this one looks right on me because I do have my reservations about it.

Lastly, earrings and bracelet. I love the teardrops and hoops.  But that's about as big as I will get.  I don't like big dangly earrings (my earlobes hurt thinking about them).

The Stella Vintage Bracelet.  My favorite bracelet and was the first thing in my shopping basket.  Love, love, love.

So, what do you think?  Not bad.  Maybe I should become a stylist???  :-)
I'll stick to my dayjob (mom slash commercial real estate guru)!

I can't wait to show you all of it when I'm wearing it.  After all, jewelry really shows it's style when it's on!  Now, how about that cute little jewelry stand.  This one maybe, from Urban Outfitters?  Hmmm, something to think about!

Happy Wednesday Y'all!

Thanks to Danielle over at Florida Brides (who also designed my blog), I now have tabs!!!   Yay!!  I love me some tabs.  Thank you SO much Danielle.

This gives me more room for my blog pictures.  It's been driving me nuts for a while that my side bar was so clogged and I love pictures and I want them BIG, so having a larger post area makes me very happy. I just like looking at details and if I like detail, there are others who do too.

I can also now post more books (and my reviews), more blogs that I love, my etsy shop items, features etc., etc.  I especially love my books tab because I read a lot, and I know some of you out there love book reviews (at least I enjoy reading your reviews, so I'll do the same for you).

This little transition will take me some time.  I know how to organize my tabs, but I'm hoping to download some new fonts and colors to match the blog. Tthe blogger fonts and colors aren't doing it for me, they don't match (seriously....there are NO PINK COLORS, what is up with that????).  But, with my lack of computer knowledge, I'll probably be screaming for Danielle by days end tomorrow!

So, please pardon my mess while I'm under construction.  I promise it will be tres fab when I'm done!
Happy Monday night y'all!!

Weekend at the Sandbar!

First off, don't forget about my Kate Puck giveaway!  You have until noon on Friday to enter.

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.  Hope y'all did to and I can't wait to catch up on blogs and hear about yours.

Friday night was Lallie's "Look What I Learned" day at school.  This is where the kids get to bring their parents into the classroom and show them all the work and activities they've been completing this year in school.  This was bittersweet for Hubs and I because next week is toddler graduation, which means our little baby is growing up!

Later that night, we decided to go out to eat.  Lallie was an absolute gem considering it was WAY past her bedtime.  Yeah, ice cream at 8:45....great idea mommy and daddy!  Check out this wild face!!

An i-phone, while waiting for dinner...is an awesome idea.
Saturday, daddy played golf and Lallie and I had a playdate with our friends Niki, Turner and Merritt.  We were going to swim, but it started pouring rain with thunder and lightening 30 minutes before they arrived, so I was in full on crafting mode, getting ready for the kids.  Sadly, I forgot to take pictures!

Saturday night, I had to play violin for a friend's wedding.  I always enjoy playing at weddings, except for the drunk people who insist on taking pictures with me, around me, in front of me, while I'm playing.  Awkward!!  Plus, there is always the professional photographer that is RIGHT in my face, where my bow is supposed to be, so it's like a gymnastic act.  People, I'm just the hired music, not a circus act!

Okay, moving on.

Sunday, we went out on a boat with our friends to the Sandbar.
Lallie and her friend Zava, are close buddies.  They go to school together and Zava always has Lallie's back (Zava is about 15 months older than Lallie).

We love the sandbar.  We used to come here all the time when we had our boat.  If you're not familiar, basically, tons of boats come out to the inlet, just near the exit to the ocean, where this huge sandbar exposes itself during low tide.  All the boats beach on it and then people grill out, bring volleyball nets and just have a great time.  It's a lot of fun!

A zonked out Lallie on the way home.
Sadly, that afternoon (because I forgot my sunglasses), I ended up with my very first migraine, ever.  Poeple always say, I have a migraine and it's just a really bad headache.  Not this time, I was vomitting, my blood pressure was through the roof and I seriously thought Husband was going to have to take me to the hospital.  My mom had migraines, so Husband checked with her and she said I was fine, I just have to weather it.  I'm still re-cooping today as my eyes are still sensative.  Wowser, I really hope I never get one of those again and I am really understanding what my mom and my friend, Ashleigh, who have chronic migraines, go through.

Monday, we basically chilled all day.  I was still recovering from the migraine, so we just stayed around the house and had some great family time.

How was y'alls Memorial Day?
