My Happy Place

This week has been insane. This is my office, it literally exploded into a mess! (yes, and the green Hilfiger jacket from last fall is still there - I really need to get that to the cleaners for this fall! I really have been meaning to take it home.)

On top of work, my right hip is damaged and killing me (trust me, it's a funny, embarrassing story so when I work up the nerve, I'll tell you about it). All in all the last few days have been ROUGH!

Yesterday, I'd had it. So, before picking up Lallie from school to return home for normal weeknight chaos, I decided to go to my happy place. That "calgon, take me away" feeling was much needed and so I went to.....

...and the fall smell as soon as those automatic doors opened was a breath of fresh air. For approximately 35 minutes, the world around me disappeared and I was in my happy place (well, one of my happy places anyways, I have many).

Of course, I just needed a little happy, not to buy, so I left my purse in the car. I locked the door and then thought, "yeah right, like I'm going to leave it in the car, someone will break in and steal it!" (Geeezzzz, WHAT was a thinking?) I took my purse in with me in fear of robbers.

I had no intentions of getting a cart, but who could carry a heavy bag with a right hip hurting...I needed something to lean on so I could hobble around (I really didn't need to make my hip worse.)

Remember that little weiner dog from that PetSmart commercial we all thought was so cute. It was probably a year or more ago. I found it! It's so cute, and PINK!!

...and what about pink and green tinsel trees for $4.99? I put the pink one in the cart, but it had a leg broken off, so I put it back (insert Husbands, "thank goodness" sigh here).

I love perusing the stationary and office supply choices at HomeGoods. They always have such great stuff in bright colors. I love to shop for gifts here. But not today, nope...I'm being good (this was before the tinsel tree almost purchase).

This little shabby chic white tray is so pretty (it looks dark in the picture). I can imagine it now with a little silver julep cup filled with bright pink and green flowers with a secondary accent on the side. But, again, my cart remained empty.

I love stained glass. This, of course, is not the gorgeous stained glass you see in churches and chapels in Europe or the Tiffany glass windows like at Flagler College in St. Augustine, but I always love looking such glass. This would be pretty in a tall foyer where the sun really shines, on a wall. Maybe, maybe not? I don't personally have any in our house and I am far from being a designer, so it's just a thought.

Remember this green watering can I found and posted about a while back? I couldn't fathom buying it for $29.99 at that time, but it was on clearance for $9.99! SCORE! I'll put this pretty in my pink/green guest room with fresh flowers when visitors come to visit. Thank goodness i had my purse and cart or I wouldn't have had the strength or money to buy it! :-)

Husband will say that I still didn't come home in a happy mood after visiting my happy place. I will respond with, "Did you really want to see me before I went to happy place?" Now THAT would have been scary!

Vineyard Vines

I was just at a local shop that sells Vineyard Vines clothing. While there, I decided it was time to list my Vineyard Vines fall picks!

First - the headband. I don't wear them much, though I should. They really are the preppy accessory of choice (in fact, Hopsy and Muffy Martini discussed headbands recently on WASP Wednesday.) Of course, I thought of both Headbands & Handbags and Kate over at Nautical By Nature when I saw this. They have it in red too!

Fall is always too drab for me (everyone is my office wears gray and black....bleh!). Who said black, brown and olive green have to be the ONLY colors one wears in fall?

I love patchwork and this shirt is just too cute!

I love the nautical look though I'm not crazy about sideways stripes. The gathered middle in this sweater make it desirable, in my opinion. Plus again, due to my geographical location, the short sleeved sweater works for me.

I am a sucker for cardigans and button front sweaters. I work in an office where it is freezing and then walk outside to blazing hot weather, so cardigans are a absolute necessity year-round. Plus, they're just cute! I LOVE this sweater, the buttons, the collar, the pockets, the color which goes with anything).

What about this patchwork skirt? Perfect for fall, but like I said, it has that extra punch of color to keep the drabbiness far, far away. Love the boots too!

Saturday Morning Fun

I said "say cheese" and she actually looked at the camera and smiled! Success!

Happy Weekend everyone!

Lusting for Lilly....

Okay, really, I shouldn't be saying "lust" as that is one of the 7 deadly sins, so let's not say that, let's say that I am just loving these new Lilly items and I really, REALLY would love to have them....(down girl still on budget after buying house, need to remind myself).

Oh well, there's always the sales at Splash of Pink, Preppy Outlet, the Sale Shack at C. Orrico etc., etc.!!!

In addition, today is my birthday! Happy Birthday to me! And, my darling sweet, sweet husband who I love and adore more than ever after 8 years of marriage, got me a fantastic gift (no, it's not Lilly), but it's a super fantastic gift that I will post about later. I've been wanting one for a while and he surprised me with it, so I REALLY have no room to complain for my lack of fall Lilly!

Anyways, without further ado, here are my latest wishes:

I adore this Olivia Colorblocked Ponte dress, the navy with the bright pink buttons! Too cute and perfect for the office!

I dont' wear turtlenecks much in S. Florida, but if I did, this would be perfect for me, I love the colors in the Soni Printed Turtleneck.

This Lisette skirt in twill is just too cute and would bring little color to the normally drab colors, plus the fabric type is perfect for fall.

I've seen these Palm Beach printed pants in person and
if I could only pick one Lilly, this would be it. Again, love the twill fabric.

One always needs a pink top that will match anything and everything Lilly (or not!).

Have a great day!

Book Swap Feedback

Thanks to Jo over at Bees & Fleur de lis, I have a new pile of books waiting for me on my nightstand. Jo was my partner for the book swap I hosted a few weeks ago and for me, it was a fantastic experience. For those of you that also participated, please give me some feedback. Was it great? Awful? Would you swap again in the future? ~smooches~

This is what happens...

.....when someone doesn't take a nap at school, she falls asleep...and I mean dead asleep...in the car.

Adorably cute toaster

Now, who wouldn't love waking up to this toasting your bagel or waffle? I spied this at a little downtown Stuart shop called April Daze. Isn't it adorable? I'd say this is perfect for a college dorm room or apartment! I wish it was perfect for my kitchen, but I think the colors would clash just a little. Thankfully, I have my Lilly travel mug to brighten my morning instead!

boo y'all

Look what I won from My Flip Flopz! How exciting! Three of my favorite things, Halloween, cute signs that say "y'all" and of course - PINK & GREEN! I mean how fitting is this for me? I can't wait to get it!

Have y'all visited her Etsy shop? She makes all types of these adorable signs for any occasion. I encourage you to stop on over and take a look, I know she'll appreciate it ;-)

Weekend Recap

As usual, we didn't do much (which is a fabulous thing!). Husband had to work Saturday, so Lallie and I stayed home and watched cartoons, baked cookies for Church and finger painted and did some crafting. I also had some time to read and watch the UK vs. Louisville football game while Lallie napped. Go CATS! We did get a quick swim in Saturday morning before it started pouring down rain (the reason we were inside all day!). Here's a picture of Lallie cartoon watching on our bed after our swim.

This picture is for a special blog friend....

On Sunday, we headed off the Church where we both sweated like crazy (we were the coffee and treat hosts and the coffee stand is outside! It's still REALLY hot down here!) Lallie went to Sunday school for the 2nd week in a row and did wonderfully We are finally able to sit and actually hear a sermon!

It was pretty nice that afternoon, so we were able to swim and I finished some crafting projects I've been working on.

Kentucky Visit

Okay, as promised, our Kentucky visit pictures are finally downloaded and posted. Beware, there are LOTS of pictures as many out-of-town friends and family have been pestering me for these (not really, but I know they've been checking daily for them!).

Day 1 - Livestock Show
I like this picture because I love my pants, they're just fun!

Lallie playing in the dirt. Keep in mind, we don't have dirt in S. Florida, we have sand and it's normally covered in fire ants, so Lallie had never really played in the dirt. This was a little of a controversy because....

....well, it's a livestock show. Lallie was pulled from the dirt and hands sanitized, so no worries!

Lallie thought the chickens were just amazing. She loved them!

This poor little lamb was ridden back and forth, multiple times, by several little girls. While cute, we all felt a little bad for the lamb.

Day 2: The Tobacco Festival
Daddy and Lallie at the Folk Art Museum

At the Tobacco Festival parade. Who doesn't love a balloon (that cost $4.00!)?

The Hillbilly float.

This is the single only picture we have of Lallie and Granny. Thank you husband for taking it or I wouldn't of had any of them at all!

Relaxing after the parade.

On parade day, we also got to see Uncle Wayne and Aunt Judy who came in from North Carolina and Uncle Lynn and Aunt Susan from Lexington. So, we were thrilled to see everyone since we missed this year's family reunion.

Day 3: Hanging out at home.
For those of you who saw my home grown food post, here are the gooseberries. Yum!

Lallie and Uncle Pat's girlfriend, Jess. Lallie and Jess are great buds!

Day 4: Weiner Roast
Cousin Adam's puppy, Axel.

We all love this picture of Lallie's Great Aunt Patricia and her. They both just look (and are) so happy!

And a weiner roast isn't a weiner roast without smores for dessert! Double yum!

Uncle Patrick and Lallie. Again, great buds!

Day 5: Visiting Great Aunt Patricia and Uncle Larry Dale.
Lallie and Callie the cat. We ate Patricia's homemade apple pie....every.last.crumb!

We miss everyone so much and can't wait until our next visit north to either one of our family homes in Kentucky. Love to all!
