Jucing, Crafting and Other Hodge Podge

I know I promised to get back to my Work OOTD posts today however, poor Lallie is home sick.  :(  She's not really sick and will go back tomorrow, but her allergies have been going absolutely crazy and medicine seem to be helping.  Her cough is awfu!  I kept her home today just to make 100% sure she's not ill before I send her back to school.

Speaking of fashion, I am SO excited to be completing a month long review of one of my favorite jewelery designers.  All month long I'll be wearing some gorgeous bracelets as will Lallie.  We'll be styling them with different outfits and reviewing the wear and I can't wait to share my review later this month!  Can you guess who?  :-)

This weekend I was able to get back to my sewing and embroidery machine!  From Etsy, I purchased some monogram name designs and this was a simple practice run.  I also  made a dress for Lallie with a matching American Girl dress for her Caroline doll.

One of my friends makes these adorable flip flops.  I'm not a great bow maker, so I turn to her for hair bows and shoes.  She's making a pair of these in pink and green to match Lallie's new American Girl dress.  I can't wait to show you the finished look!  If we had time, the two of us would pair up and open our own Etsy shop, we'd have tons of fun!

In other news, I DID receive the juicer I requested for Christmas.  It's not a fancy machine but it's efficient and really does squeeze more juice than I expected from fruits and veggies.  It's a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor and you can get it on Amazon for $59.
My favorite juice thus far is a green juice with kale (3-4 leaves) 1/2 cucumber, 2 granny smith apples, 2 carrots and a handful of spinach.

I also enjoy a morning eye opener with 2 granny smith apples, 2 carrots and an orange.

Yesterday I tried one with cabbage, just because I had 1/2 a head I needed to use before it spoiled.  It was okay, but I'm not running out to buy cabbage just to juice.  It made a TON of juice too....who knew?

This one pictured below is an Infection and Virus beater (figured with Lallie on the verge, a boost couldn't hurt!)  It has 1 garlic clove, 2 apples (I used granny smith), 2 carrots, 1 beet (no leaves) and 1 lemon.  It's quite tasty however, you can taste the garlic so I'm sure hubby will have something to say about that tonight!
Don't spill this juice on you, it will stain!  Love how it matches my fingernail polish color!

Juicing can be expensive and I have stopped juicing every day for that reason (plus it is time consuming).  However, I will juice once or so every other day, using organic ingredients and I definitely juice anything we haven't/aren't using rather than wasting money.

Husband and Lallie....not yet sold on the whole idea.  :0)

A few other pictures from the weekend.
Here's Lallie working on her cereal box Valentine's Day mailbox.  She's very creative and LOVES sparkle paint!

Husband and I went out to dinner at a new local restaurant this weekend with some friends (which actually turned into us eating dinner elsewhere....long story).  The restaurant had a very neat setup and we found this little room with a couple of sitting chairs for just the four of us in the bar area while we waited for our table.

The room had this 1950's style record turntable which Husband has been looking for one for our home for ages.  My grandfather has one similar.

And who doesn't recognize this lamp?  I googled it and this miniature lamp costs between $30 and $50 from various Amazon sellers.  I would totally have one of these in my house!  It's become an American icon!  ;)

Happy Monday Y'all!

  3. Hi,
I 've been juicing recently as well. I try and drink 40 ounces a day. I have a breville that I got 50% off just by asking if my facebook friends had one they wanted to sell. I can't wait to try your morning eye opener. I really enjoy 2 grapefruit, 2 oranges, 2 pears and 2 green apples. It about 40 ounces of juice. I split it up and have it over 2 days. Good Luck with your juicing!!
