Who Says An Infant Can't Wear Pearls and Carry Chanel?

LOOK at this adorable little onesie!  Wouldn't BG (Baby Girl) just look adorable in it?  Found it at Off Saks Fifth Avenue at the outlets in St. Augustine.  I really should have purchased it.  Really, does it not scream "I'm a child of Mrs. SLPS?"  Heehee! 

But I restrained myself.  

Until girl's night out at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale where I spied it again and decided BG just had to have it.

Lallie was excited to see it too, she was bummed when I didn't buy it the first time around.

Lallie Meets Cupcake

We finally made it up to Kentucky.  It's been nearly a year since we last visited, so we decided a trip was in store before BG arrives in October.  I figured that once I was 7 months along in August, I'd be too uncomfortable for major travel and I'm certainly not traveling with an infant, so July 4th week turned out to be the perfect time for a visit.  

It rained nearly the whole time but that didn't stop us from playing on the farm.  It actually made for a very cool and pleasant summer week with lots of time spent outdoors.

The first thing we did upon arrival was meet Cupcake.  Cupcake arrived on the farm about 3 months ago and Lallie has only visited with her via Facetime since, so this was a very big moment for these two friends!  Lallie even wore her special horse t-shirt for the occasion.  She felt that Cupcake might be less nervous if she wore it.  :-)

Lallie LOVED leading Cupcake around the yard and playing with her (though Cupcake, for the most part, just wanted to eat grass).  The sweet mini pony is not yet able to handle riders, she's still a little skiddish, but hopefully soon as Grandaddy has been training her.

What was Mommy doing during all this one-on-one Cupcake play-time?   I was sitting on the front porch with a good book, drinking (sparingly) the Kentucky famous Ale 8 soda.  Yum!  (I say sparingly because it's loaded with caffeine  not extremely fabulous for growing BG).

Since Cupcake is not yet in a riding mood, Bucky took Lallie for a couple spins through the front yard.  Bucky too, for the most part, just wanted to eat.

What did Daddy do for fun?

Yes, that is a bug....on a string.  Apparently, when the boys were little, they tied a string around a june bug's leg and walked them around the yard...like a dog.  Yes, you heard that right.  A string on a bug.

We enjoyed lots of home grown veggies while on the farm.

And we did a lot of relaxing on the front porch.

We also roasted wieners and smores on a fire...in the rain on the actual Fourth of July.  My sis-in-law, Jess, was the brave soul who roasted all the hot dogs for us (no she didn't eat 10 hot dogs all on her own).  Later that night, Husband set off several fabulous fireworks (again, in the rain).  Nothing was going to stop us from enjoying our outdoor time!

We had a great time visiting the farm!  I have to say, Husband's parents and my parents live in two most relaxing places on earth.  We are lucky to have Kentucky and Apalachicola, Florida as the two places we retreat upon when visiting family.  Both are unbelievably relaxing and fun places to visit where we can slow down and just enjoy life and each other!

St. Augustine Trip

St. Augustine is about a three or four hour drive north of where we live, so we got up early Saturday morning and drove up to start our weekend.  First thing we did upon our arrival was hop the trolley to ride around the city while learning some history (this preggers was NOT walking around the town, she was taking the sit down route!)

Lallie LOVED the trolley and its very bumpy ride.  The trolleys don't have shocks so I actually googled if that much bouncing and shaking was bad for BG (which it was perfectly fine.  No worse than jogging.....though I can't for the life of me figure out who would want to go jogging at 6 months pregnant!)

Next we visited Castillo de San Marco fort.  Let's just say it was very hot and Lallie absolutely insisted on visiting every single nook and cranny of the fort.  This included the pitch black, damp and creepy crawl space / gun powder room which Husband had to enter, practically on his hands and knees, to remove her.

Walking around that fort made us very sleepy!  Lallie's little one hour snooze on the bumpy trolley made for one very happy (and jarred) mommy who desperately needed a rest!  

Except for the fact she was sleeping on me and therefore, couldn't remove myself from the trolley to visit the chocolate factory, this was perfectly fine with me.  :-)

Why did I need the rest?
Case in point.  24 weeks pregnant!  :-)

Sunday we visited the Lightner Museum.  For the most part, Lallie was a good little museum goer, but the third floor turned into a never ending song of "this is boring mom! When can we leave mom?."

Really, she did very well considering the museum was pretty much all antiques.  She was engaged and asking questions, we just think she got bored looking at all the glass and crystal vases upstairs.

So, as an activity while Daddy looked at stamps and mommy rested, I told her to count how many drops there were on the very large chandelier.  There were 123.

That made for a nice 15 minute rest.  :-)

I'm a bad blogger!

You know you're a bad blogger when Husband can say exactly how many days it's been since I've blogged.  Woops!  We've been busy around the SLPS house, preparing for BG (Baby Girl), attending summer camps, traveling, playing with friends, etc. and etc. and etc.!  

In June, we had Father's Day (wow, I'm that far behind!)  Here's Husband with a couple of his church buddies sporting their new ties from the kiddos.  They all look so proud!!

Lallie loves our church!  She especially loved Vacation Bible School this year and was SO unbelievably excited to go each day.

She also spent a week of camp at a local museum where they completed loads of activities including paddle boarding!  Who doesn't love paddle boarding in the nearby inlet!?!?!  I was jealous as I LOVE paddle boarding and am anxiously awaiting the time that I can get one for myself!  :-)  We are so blessed to live this close to the water.  The other kids in the picture belong to Lallie's neighborhood gang.  :-) (And yes, Lallie did go paddle boarding but I unfortunately, missed getting a picture of it).

Over the next few days, I'll have highlights from our trip to Kentucky and St. Augustine!  And (after much urging from Husband and friends), I'm going to try my best to start back to fashion blogging again as well.  I have to say, being pregnant has not made me feel very fashionable....but goodness knows, I love trying!  ;)

I think some of these camps wore out sweet little Lallie!  She fell asleep in the car on the way home from a day of swimming listening to her Kid Bopz music on her Leapster.  She was so out, full on drooling resulted!

Summer Camps and Office Dancing

I can't believe we're ending the third week of summer already!  I keep thinking of next week, and the week after and thinking how this summer is already flying by!

I think I told you before that Lallie spent the first week of camp at regular old extended day at her school.  She wasn't thrilled about this, but she was able to spend the week with one of her best friends from another school, so that excited her.  Lallie doesn't like just playing all day, she likes to be engaged and learning (which of course, as a parent, am thrilled with that!)

Last week, she was at a coastal oceanographic camp where she got to go seining in the inlet, visit the beach, play with stingrays and sea life and learned all about sea turtles. She had an absolute blast and even said that the mosquito bites were worth the biting since she had so much fun (and let me tell you....fifty or so mosquito bites, they could not be stopped!)  Poor thing literally looked beat up by time the week was over (not to mention hitting herself in the head with the car door didn't' help!)  But she had a blast and has already requested to go back next year.

This week, she's at Vacation Bible School at our Church and loving it.  Lallie is not headed to Broadway anytime soon.  Other than dance recitals where she can't see the audience due to bright lights and all the other kids are doing the same thing as she, Lallie does not like to be up front performing.  She usually sits like a bump on a log during VBS singing and dancing activities.  I'm always told she participates, just not in dancing or singing.  So, when I walked in yesterday to see her standing on a pew, dancing and singing....a HUGE smile came to my face!  Yay!  She's breaking out of her shell!!

In other news, Lallie is still hanging out with me in my office during the morning until 8:45 or so.  Most camps don't' start until 9 am and I'm usually in the office by 7:15 so I can leave early an spend my afternoons with her (or at gymnastics).  She has activities from summer worksheets, reading, drawing, toys, sometimes a movie on the ipad and this morning, I was graced with a dance recital.

Lallie-isms and Other Happenings

Good morning y'all.  This week Lallie is attending an outdoor sea creature and ocean camp (ah the life of living on the water!).  And camp doesn't start until 8:30 am.  So Lallie is hanging out with me in the office each morning this week.  

The first two days were great.  Lallie colored, worked on her summer school worksheets and basically stayed out of my hair (and I got a lot done).  Not so much today.  SO, in the midst of helping with her worksheets, listening to her excited (and very sweet) chatter and standing by the bathroom door (because today she's too scared to go by herself)....why not write an overdue blog?  So here you go.

Before I get to the very funny and sweet Lallie-isms of the day (week, month, year...it's been a while), let me share some of the other happenings in our lives.  

Pool time is here!  And here's a little picture of our crazy family on a typical day.  Lallie smiling and acting goofy as usual and the dog....well, can't leave him out of a single moment!  (Husband was trying to get a picture of my 20 week pregnant belly which has been cropped.....NOT for public viewing.  Sorry.)

I have to share this picture of the amazing organic fruit and veggie co-op in which we participate.  Check out all this produce I get every two weeks for $45!!  If you haven't researched any of your local co-ops I would definitely do so.  Not only have we received fresh, organic and long-lasting produce, but we've ended up eating healthier and saving money too!  Those rainbow carrots are AMAZING!

We've also been working on the nursery.  It's almost done.  We painted this weekend, the buttons were sewed onto the glider (I still have to finish the ottoman) and the furniture is being re-positioned to their permanent locations.  I promise to have a picture of the finished glider next week.  

Here's an in-process look of the nursery.  Surprise!  Pink and Green!  So, Lallie's room is pink, the guest bathroom (now the girl's bathroom) is green.  The entire upstairs with the exception of the guest room is....you guessed it!  Pink and green!  Shocked?  I think not.  Since the pink is on the top, I will make curtains to match the glider but those won't be installed until late July as we're having all our upstairs windows replaced.  It's hot in South Florida for 

L-O-N-G periods of time (as in 6-9 months) and the windows have to be in tip-top shape to ensure maximum energy efficiency and cool rooms, which we currently aren't experiencing.  

This was the former Lilly decorated guest bedroom.  So all the Lilly themed items are being moved into the girl's bathroom (I haven't exactly told Husband this yet.  I wonder if he'll approve).

And last but not least, the Lallie-isms.  Rather, the 

A and Lallie-isms.  They were playing Husband and Wife this weekend during a playdate (to help keep Lallie out of hair while we painted).  

HYSTERICAL!!

Lallie: "No you're not! You're taking the baby so I can

 sleep!"

Lallie: "Ok sweetie, walk the dog before you go."

Shortly thereafter they had a fight over who is better, the

 Cats or the Gators. That one ended in a draw when A said

 "I don't understand why we're fighting over this!"

Lallie:  "A, will you made the bed sweetie?  I'm tired."

A:  "I'm not going to marry you!

Lallie: "But we need money for the baby!"

I understand that some of these things the kiddos pick up from mom and dad conversations but that last one?  Are they up watching prime time when we're not looking?  Wondering where they came up with that one!
