AHA Moment

On my last post regarding Junior League, I wrote about how excited I was to become a part of a group of women who are ready, willing and able to volunteer in our community for the benefit of women and children in need.

Someone read my post and then left a comment with the following video:

Folks, put your social and daily life aspirations aside. Stop and take a moment to think about the world outside of your home and world. Poverty, illiteracy, abuse, hunger....these are all things taking place in YOUR back yard. And, we ... you & me, have the opportunity to do something about these issues. One person truly can make a difference.

So, whether it be through Junior League or some other charity or group in your community, VOLUNTEER, take time out of your busy... and easy life by many standards...and help someone in need. It's not about our "need to feel good about ourselves", it's about their need to lead a better, safe, productive life.....(for lack of better words, you know what I mean).

To divulge a little bit into my Christian background. I was a Christian, then I wasn't (due to some philosophy courses in college) and then I met my husband and I'm a Christian again. I struggle daily with this, I'm not a good Christian, none of us really are. I've struggled to find a way to be a good one for years, I've volunteered at Church, I've read my Bible, I've tried praying and none of these truly fulfill my need to be a better Christian. I truly believe THIS is my calling, this is what I am meant to do to fulfill my purpose in life here in this short time on earth. This is what God is calling me to do, US to do, to volunteer, and I can't wait to get going.

Matthew 25: 35 - 40 "For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; I was naked, and you clothes Me. Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thritsty and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invited You in, or naked, and clothes You? When did we see You cik, or in prison and come to You?' 'The King will answer and say to them, "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me."

Have a wonderful weekend and God Bless!
