Gingerbread House

Lallie, Husband and I spent some quality family time together last night making our first ever family gingerbread house.

So I was cheap, I didn't ever intend to actually eat it, but just make it for fun with Lallie, so I bought it at CVS for $4.00. When we tried to eat it later, the gingerbread tasted like cardboard.

We wouldn't have eaten it if it hadn't fallen apart. As you can see in the pictures, we are not fantastic artists and Lallie kept eating the candy. The house started falling apart just as I was taking pictures (the glasses are holding the roof on).

So, note to self - next year, buy a more costly gingerbread house kit or make one yourself. (Scratch that, I once made Bisquick biscuits....they were hard as rocks on the outside and still dough batter on the inside.) Just buy the kit.

All in all, we still had lots of fun and the quality family time was all that really mattered!

  2. Fun is what matters. The last three yrs I have been doing this with either a young niece or nephew (under the age of 5) so you can only immagine what they look like.

  3. So fun, even when they fall apart!

Wilton has a $9.99 version that is preglued so the house is already together for you. This makes it a WHOLE bunch easier. All you do is make the frosting and put on the decor.

Looks like you had a fun time just the same!!!
