Summer Book Giveaway!

Lots of things happening at the SLPS household, including more questions to answer, a Kentucky Derby wedding (in South Florida) and Lallie's version of the water dive (which is quite hilarious).

But, first, a summer book giveaway!  I am very excited about this book as the author is Husband's first cousin, Rebecca Ramsey.  Becky (as she is known to us) and her young family lived in Clermont-Ferrand, France, which is four hours south of Paris, for several years.  French By Heart is the result of that time in France.  It is a funny, witty, heartwarming story about raising a young family in the heart of French culture.  Becky's website says "Can a family of five from deep in the heart of Dixie find happiness smack dab in the middle of France?"   Click HERE to read Chapter 1.

I will be giving away a copy of this book to one lucky SLPS reader.
It's easy, all you have to do is tell me about your favorite summer vacation!  Anything.  Where did you go, what did you do, who did you go with, anything funny happenings, or did something go horribly wrong?  Share as much or as little as you like, but I do read all my comments, so I hope to hear from lots of you.  Trust me, you don't want to miss this book.  It is a great read, and a shelf keeper.

The giveaway ends on Friday!

Becky also has a blog.  Wonders Never Cease is about the simple wonders of family and friends thrown in a few wonders like Nutella, clouds and Tanner the Slobber Dog.  She touches on the "wonders" which weso  often take advantage of in our everyday lives!  I hope you enjoy, I know I do!

Happy Monday y'all!

  1. One year towards the end of Summer I went to the California Wine country with the man who is now my husband. It is crushing season right about that time of the year. It was really warm so they were picking the grapes early. The thing is that neither I or my husband drink alcohol. We enjoyed our time because we were exploring together the beautiful countryside and along the ocean. (I had been there before as my mother is from San Francisco) but it was great fun to go with someone you love.

  2. What an exciting adventure to live in France!
My favorite summer vacation was always the two weeks spent at my Grandparents house on the coast of Maine. One summer my friend Kris and I thought it would be neat to make perfume... so we raided a neighbors prized roses and tried to make perfume. It was a disaster but we had a lot of fun.

  4. Your husband's first cousin! I have read this book and it is wonderful! Having lived in Europe as an expat for a few years, I could really relate to Becky's experiences. Is she working in a sequel that covers her move back to the the US?

  7. I love the cover of the book! How colorful and fun.

Our summer vacation is pretty routine. We like to go to the Ft. Walton Beach, FL area right by Destin. We enjoy staying at Waterscape. It is right on the beach and has a wonderful area for the kids to enjoy (including a lazy river). Any family with kids would really enjoy the family type atmosphere.

  8. That sounds like a very fun novel!

My favorite summer vacation memory was in the summer of 2008. My now-husband and I backpacked across Europe for an entire month. At the time, we were still dating and after surviving this fun adventure together we both realized we could spend the rest of our lives together. We managed to go through London, Prague, Venice, Florence, Sienna, Rome, Cinque Terre, Barcelona, and Paris. We stayed in hostels and traveled by train. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life!

Please enter me in the contest. THANKS!!

  9. Since having my boys all vacations are my favorite. Last year (2009) was supposed to be the worst b/c we found out Aiden (gestation 18 weeks) was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 but my sweet little boys were doing everything to make me happy. H (oldest) learned to boogie board and M (middle) learned to jump and swim.
