I have always loved Alison Krauss independently and with her band, Union Station. The group came out with their newest album today, Paper Airplane, their first since 2004. This is the video and song giving the album it's name.
My all time favorites by Alison Krauss are the remake of Keith Whitley's You Say Nothing at All, her rendition of the old spiritual, Down to the River to Pray, Baby Now That I've Found You and her song with Union Station, So Long, So Wrong.
I'm excited to hear the rest of the new album as frankly, I love all the songs she's put out over the years (since 1987 actually).

True story: back in 2003 my hubby (then boyfriend) was getting ready to go overseas. He was a Marine (retired now). His friends wanted to have a going away party for him and I was all kinds of upset because we only two day left until he left I wanted to be alone with him, not spend the night with a bunch of other people. Driving out to the friends house I was staring out the window crying when Alison Krause's version of 'When you say nothing at all' came on the radio. My hubby grabbed my hand and started singing it to me. I started singing with him and we both were crying by the end. It is most definitely 'our' song. Every year at the Marine Corps. ball I request it and we dance. Everytime I hear it, even after all these years, I sing along and tears start falling before the song ends.

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful voice Alison Krauss has--going to have to dig some out--it's been a while.
I love Allison Kraus, but didn't really start listening to hear until she released Raising Sand with Robert Plant. We saw them in concert and it was amazing! Her voice is angelic, yet haunting, at times. And can she play a mean fiddle! Will have to check out her new album.
