Fall Preppy Outfit Today!

Thank you so much to everyone who commented on my wardrobe malfunctions yesterday. I feel much better about bending the rules just a little (though I still feel weird about it! I've just always known, not sure how, but known that white/linen/flip flops are not to be worn until after Derby Day (Kentuckian, remember) and wool is not to be worn before Labor day. I obviously do not have a problem with the wool part!

I do think that bright colors are still allowed in the fall/winter...just with proper decorum. So, I took some of your advice, and pulled out several pants and dresses to take to the tailors! They are all J. Crew, Banana Republic and Ann Taylor (Loft), so I really want to wear them, since I barely wore them last year. Husband also made an interesting deal, that he would help me out if we remained on budget this month and send me shopping! Whoo hoo!

Until then, today I'm wearing houndstooth black/white flats that were hiding in my closet and paired them with a pair of J. Crew black capris and a white Ya-Ya AFLOLO top that's kind of hard to described but is very similar to this same Ya-Ta top but a little more fitted.


I bought the top it at an adorable boutique called the Oyster Catcher in Apalachicola, Florida this past May and it's one of my favorite summer shirts, turned fall! Paired with a short strand of large pearls and pearl earrings, I think I'm ready for my first DAR meeting of the year. Oh, and my hair is in a pony tail with a black grosgrain ribbon. I feel fall preppy today!
