Preppy Wine Cork Wreath

I have been hoarding wine corks from various people, places and events for years and years and I finally got around to putting them to good use.

So, if you're free this weekend and have a ton of wine corks taking up space, get out your crafting tools for a super easy and preppy wine cork wreath! I do have a two-year old, so this took me about 3 hours to make (across a two-week time period!)

Supplies:

Hay wreath (I used a 10" which was perfect for the amount of corks I had).
Wine corks (real, not plastic) - I had about two freezer bags chock full.
Crafting grass (I chose brown, more versatile)
Hot glue and glue gun (every single household should have a glue gun in my opinion)

Here are the steps!

Start gluing the corks onto the hay wreath in random patterns. Don't worry about holes.

Fill in the holes with crafting grass or moss. You can also use a mixture of the two for more variety. Use a small dowel to help you press grass into the tighter and smaller hole areas. Also use the grass to cover any hot glue that dried visibly onto your corks.

I will not permanently attach any ribbons or bows to the wreath so I can decorate it according to season. Husband thought it would also work great for the pinning and displaying of Christmas and birthday cards.

Here's my wreath (my fall set-up is still a work-in-progress! After all, it is still 90 degrees here!)

Have a great weekend! I'm off to layout by the pool while Lallie naps!

  4. What a great idea! I have jars or wine corks I have saved over the years (for no real reason at all). This is a great way to display them.
