Pressure Cooking

Do y'all pressure cook?

We've never pressure cooked in our household until a few weeks ago when we bought our first pressure cooker.  Since, Husband (since he's the pressure cooking guru at this point and frankly, I'm scared of it!)..... he has made fresh green beans in minutes, pot roast in 50 minutes (with potatoes and carrots in the last five minutes) and we've had our favorite southern meal - fresh pinto beans and sauerkraut (or turnip and collard greens) with onions and cornbread a/k/a "granny bread" as Lallie calls it.

Seriously, I send Lallie to school with granny bread, and the other kids try to steal it from her....so good!
Reminder....Husband, you need to make some for her class.

But I digress (as usual)....

I grew up around pressure cooking.  My mother always canned vegetables when I was younger and it was just me.  Pressure cookers have changed a lot since then, but back then, I can remember the constant high pitched clinking and clanging as the top spun with a te-te-te-te-te-te-te sound over.and.over. again!  Ahh...childhood memories.

My mother in law, to this day, still cans pickles, green beans, tomato soup (I will never eat canned soup again!), anything she can can...she cans.

So, in the SLPS household, we've ventured out ourselves and we can have full on Sunday meals any night of the week.

Do any of y'all pressure cook?  If so, what do you make?  (And, share recipes please!! :-)

Happy Tuesday y'all!

  1. I don't have a pressure cooker but like you, my mom used hers all the time when I was younger! The sound takes me back to my childhood :)

  6. I must admit I was terrified of pressure cooking, but might just have to give it a shot. I've seen a ton of pc recipes and they all look so easy and delish!
