Things I love.....the face

Back to regularly scheduled programming of things I love, now that LIFE has slowed down a bit! :-)
Today, my latest loves in the facial product market.

Of course, y'all know how much I love my Clarisonic. I have used it everyday since I got it for Christmas last year and my face has never looked or felt better. It's like a spa for my face everyday.

Of course, you have to have something to do the cleansing and my favorite is Bliss 2-in-1 cleaners and exfoliator.  (Shhhh....you can get it at Ulta for $22.00 and if you use a coupon, even better!)

I still haven't ever tried a toner.  Well, I have...but it only usually lasts a week because I seem to start breaking out when I use a toner.  And then once I stop, the breakouts go away.
Thoughts readers???

Onto moisturizer.  Well, in the morning and every other evening, I've been using MAC Lightful Deep Ultramoisture Creme and I love it!  A friend at my office (also a follower of mine - hi AMBER!!), who is a cosmetologist in a prior life, recommended it to me.  I've been using this for a few months now for a couple reasons.

(1) It seemed that my face was just not compatible to other moisturizers, they would ball up and flake (if you are knowledgeable about skincare, you know what I'm talking about.
(2) I started using Retin-A again every other night to start holding off wrinkles (we'll get to that in a moment) and MAC doesn't burn with Retin-A like some moisturizers can.

Now, I mentioned Retin-A.  I only use this every other night for a few weeks at a time and then give my face a rest a few weeks and then come back to it.  The first couple days after using it, my skin does sort of molt off (for lack of a better word), which is a pain for a few days (so I wouldn't recommend starting right before a big event or vacation in the sun), but once that dead skins is gone, nothing but pretty glowing, healthy skin remains.  It basically promotes the peeling and unclogging of those yucky pores and the result is just fabulous!  Now, you put this on at night after cleansing, but DON'T moisturize!!  Let your face completely dry out for about 20 minutes (I know, uh...) and then put on the Retin-A.  It will do it's magic overnight.

Let me tell you, the tube lasts FOREVER for those of you who think the expense is too much (about $54.00, with my insurance anyways).  I know there are other forms of Retin-A out there, but I've never tried them.

Moving on..... makeup.

We've discussed this  before, I've never been a fan of makeup.  I wear very little (i.e. powder, blush and mascara) and it's usually Cover Girl brand (I spend my money on the skincare stuff).  But lately, after doing some research, there are ways to use makeup, without a lot of it, to keep your beautiful skin still glowing.

I must say here that when using Retin-A, to diminish some of the redness for a few days, I do use Make Up For Ever's Camouflage Creme Makeup Palette No. 1 for the green concealer.  Green gets rid of red!

My friend Ashleigh uses Smashbox and so, the other day I purchased a Smashbox blush.  It's taking some getting used to, but I am liking it so far and as Ashleigh said, the blush doesn't make your cheeks too pink (like you're trying to hard).  We'll see.

I also do love my recnet purchases of Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Foundation and the bronzer.  Very even skin tones, which I do love even!

Well, there are my latest and greatest loves.  What are you truly loving right now?

Happy Friday Y'all!

  3. I might have to try the MAC cream....I use Tretinoin, which is Retin A, and my skin is sooo flaky and dry right now. I usually use Clinique's DDM Gel and that's usually fine but not anymore. Has the MAC cream broken you out at all any?

  5. I love it when I inspire YOU to try something! So glad you tried the Smashbox blush. It works perfect for my pale skin because it gives me color without making me look like someone has been pinching my cheeks. Let me know how you like it!
